Canada moves to ban social media for under-16s: protecting kids, or government overreach?

Canada has introduced a bill to bar under-16s from social media — following Australia, the first country to do so — with exemptions for platforms that meet safety standards. Supporters say it shields children from online harm. We are awaiting the fuller case from critics, who warn such bans are hard to enforce and infringe on rights; the White House has publicly opposed similar under-16 bans abroad.
